Job Summary:
The General Manager will oversee winery operations with a strong focus on hospitality, sales, and brand growth. This role requires a leader who can elevate the guest experience, expand our wine club and DTC sales, and drive market visibility through innovative marketing and distribution strategies.
Working closely with the winemaking, vineyard, and operations teams, the General Manager will ensure quality and consistency in our wines, while leading the business toward financial growth and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and implement growth strategies aligned with the winery’s long-term vision.
- Inspire and lead a cross-functional team across hospitality, sales, marketing, operations, and winemaking.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and customer-first thinking.
Sales & Marketing:
- Drive sales growth across direct-to-consumer (tasting room, wine club, e-commerce) and wholesale channels.
- Oversee distribution and strengthen relationships with key partners.
- Oversee brand strategy, digital marketing, PR, and storytelling initiatives to grow visibility and engagement.
Hospitality & Guest Experience:
- Oversee the tasting room, wine club, and events programmes to deliver premium, memorable guest experiences.
- Develop new hospitality offerings that attract visitors and strengthen brand loyalty.
- Position the winery as a premier destination for wine tourism and events.
- Ensure guests have a warm, memorable, and personal experience with every visit.
Vineyard & Production Collaboration
- Collaborate with winemaking and vineyard teams to align product offerings with market demand.
- Support sustainable practices and uphold wine quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with all industry, safety, and environmental regulations.
Business & Finance
- Manage budgets, financial performance, and reporting for sales, hospitality, and operations.
- Monitor expenses, profitability, and ROI across all winery functions.
- Identify new opportunities for revenue growth and operational efficiency.
- Partner with owners and leadership team on strategy and growth.
Facilities Management
- Oversee the maintenance, presentation, and safety of winery facilities, including tasting rooms, event spaces, production areas, and guest amenities.
- Ensure that the winery grounds, landscaping, and physical environment reflect the brand’s quality and hospitality standards.
- Manage vendor relationships and facility-related budgets, including capital improvements and upgrades.
- Support sustainability initiatives through energy efficiency, water management, and waste reduction.
Who You Are:
- A collaborative, hands-on leader who inspires and motivates others.
- 8+ years of leadership experience in wine, luxury hospitality, or a related field.
- Skilled in strategy, financial management, and operational execution.
- Proven track record in business growth such as direct-to-consumer sales or hospitality programmes.
- Experienced in digital marketing, brand development, and customer engagement.
- Proven experience in facilities and property management within a hospitality or winery setting.
- Passionate about wine, sustainability, and creating authentic customer experiences.
- Strong communicator with excellent relationship-building skills.
