Why we need you:We are looking for a Finance & Commercial Strategy Manager to join our team and support our data-driven operations. This role combines strategic proposal support with hands-on data analysis and modelling, offering great exposure to different areas of the business.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Implement and maintain the relevant Company Policies and procedures within the Integrated Management System and QMS.
Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and benchmarking to identify market trends, opportunities, risks, and areas for differentiation.
Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with the Company’s objectives, with a focus on revenue growth, profitability, and operational efficiency.
Analyse financial, commercial, operational, and client data to identify trends, discrepancies, cost-saving opportunities, and actionable insights.
Monitor key financial and commercial KPIs, including revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, operating costs, and profitability, and provide regular reporting to Management.
Support budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, scenario analysis, and business planning to support strategic decision-making.
Analyse and optimise operational costs, supplier pricing, and vessel financial performance, identifying opportunities to improve margins and efficiency.
Support pricing strategies, contract profitability analysis, supplier benchmarking, and commercial proposals and tenders.
Develop, maintain, and coordinate Power BI dashboards and data visualisations, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and effective utilisation across the organisation.
Prepare management reports, dashboards, presentations, and data-driven recommendations for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with Finance, Business Development, Purchasing, Marketing, Operations, and Executive Management to align commercial objectives and support strategic initiatives.
Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and cost optimisation to improve operational efficiency and reduce resource requirements.
Identify and assess key commercial and financial risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
Support the development and implementation of new products, services, projects, and business opportunities, including project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and performance monitoring.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders, supporting customer satisfaction and business growth.
Stay informed of industry and market developments and provide recommendations to ensure the Company remains competitive and adaptable.
Provide ad-hoc analytical and strategic support to Management on commercial, financial, and operational matters.
You need these qualifications and attributes:
Fluent in English (written and verbal)
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, or a related field.
Advanced proficiency in Power BI and Microsoft Excel (essential).
Proficiency in MS Office suite.
5+ years of working experience in financial services, project management and/or business analysis, with exposure to the maritime industry to be considered. as an advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Excellent numerical, financial, and data interpretation skills.
Strong knowledge of financial data analysis, reporting, and data visualisation.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and key financial metrics.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial insights clearly to stakeholders.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
It would be nice if you have:
Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the shipping industry.
Interest in or familiarity with the maritime/shipping sector.
Exposure to data modelling or KPIs/reporting frameworks.
