Job Summary:
The Cook A plays a key role in preparing and cooking high-quality dishes in accordance with hotel standards. This position ensures that food is prepared safely, efficiently, and consistently, supporting smooth kitchen operations and maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all hotel safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to management, and complete all required safety training and certifications.
- Prepare all items for meal service, including sauces, soups, and other components of the daily menu.
- Arrange and organize the kitchen line and steam table to facilitate efficient meal preparation and service.
- Prepare orders as received from service staff, ensuring all dishes are cooked promptly, accurately, and meet presentation standards.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of menus, recipes, preparation techniques, and presentation standards.
- Ensure all food is stored in appropriate containers and at correct storage or holding temperatures; label and date all food and rotate stock according to SOPs.
- Cook only the necessary quantities in advance to meet expected business volume while maintaining quality.
- Prepare ingredients and dishes for the next shift or following day as directed by the Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including countertops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration, in compliance with local health and safety regulations.
- Report to work on time, in full uniform, and ready to perform duties in accordance with company policy.
- Perform other duties of a comparable nature as assigned by the Executive Chef.
Key Qualifications:
1. Education and Experience
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a hotel, resort, or fine dining environment.
- Culinary training or relevant certification preferred but not mandatory.
2. Skills
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and proper food storage practices.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Ability to follow recipes, menu specifications, and instructions from senior kitchen staff.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Commitment to maintaining cleanliness, organization, and safety in the kitchen.
